Hello!

My name is Álvaro and I'm a MSc Computer Science and Engineering student at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, specializing in Data Science.

Currently, I am living in Tokyo, Japan as part of the Vulcanus in Japan program, consisting of an intensive Japanese language course followed by a Software Engineer Internship at Asial Corporation.

This website is an always ongoing project where I can share my portfolio and try new ideas. It was originally developed with vanilla HTML, CSS, JavaScript and, for back-end, a Flask server, to gain some essential experience in web development. Now, as I delve deeper into newer frameworks (React, Vue, ...), it serves as a platform for project showcasing! I am currently migrating it to React and TailwindCSS, so it's in a "in-construction" phase. Aside from that:

🌏 I love to travel, and aim to pursue a career that allows me to connect with different cultures and people through work. In 2022, I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in South Korea. Now, living in Japan, it's a dream of mine to be able to experience the country and grow in its fantastic tech sector.
🗾 I am passionate about researching and studying deep learning applications, having worked on Sound Event Detection, Environmental Sound Classification, and Knowledge Distillation for my graduate pre-thesis project.
🎦 One of my biggest passions is cinema, you can find some movie recommendations below.
